For over one hundred years, the Kit Carson Lodge has provided adventurous and daring travelers with a comfortable place to rest, recharge, and prepare themselves for their next wild expedition.

Located on the shores of Silver Lake, high in the Sierra range, our historic seasonal lodge in Kit Carson is a destination resort of self-service cabins and rooms. We’ve been proud to be a place for travelers from near and far, and we have families that come every summer for as far back as five generations. Testimonials

Stopped by for lunch last week and enjoyed a meal with a stunning view of Silver Lake. Our server was attentive, friendly, and quick to deliver our food, which was both delicious and generously portioned. The French fries were some of the best—rivaling even McDonald's! The General Manager was welcoming and ensured everything was perfect. We’ll definitely be back!

We spent 12 nights at Kit Carson Lodge in July 2024 and had an amazing time. The cabins are rustic yet impeccably clean, and the setting along Silver Lake is absolutely stunning. With plenty of great hiking trails nearby and rentals available for kayaks and motorized fishing boats, there’s always something to do. The manager is warm and accommodating, making every stay even more enjoyable. The lobby is a cozy spot to unwind, offering fresh coffee and fruit. We dined at the restaurant six times, and every meal was fantastic. I wish we could stay all summer! We’ve already booked our stay for next year—this has become our annual tradition, and we love it.

Our group of 40 gathered at Kit Carson Lodge for four days to celebrate my daughter’s wedding, and it was absolutely beautiful by the lake. Our cabin was ideal for hosting happy hours and dinners, with a well-equipped kitchen and a very comfortable bed. It was the perfect setting for a family gathering, made even more memorable by a curious bear visiting each evening to check the trash cans. The only suggestion—bear-proof trash cans might be a good idea! Not sure how well BBQ and coconut cream pie fit into a bear’s diet.

Our stay at Kit Carson Lodge was truly memorable. The general manager went above and beyond during a challenging moment, making a lasting impression. The authentic, warm ambiance of the lodge, combined with breathtaking lake views, created a relaxing and unforgettable experience. Our cabin was both comfortable and well-equipped, and we can't wait to return for more hikes, relaxation, and outstanding hospitality.
